Equipment
One of the main aspects of a pool is the equipment. On average, the engineering of the pool accounts for 25% to 55% of its cost.
Let's briefly go over the equipment.
Circulation System
For both skimmer and overflow pools, one of the important systems is the circulation system. This system differs between skimmer pools and overflow pools, with skimmer pools being more cost-effective. Although mixing, circulation, and filtration of water are better in overflow pools, skimmer pools are often used in private construction because they are cheaper to build and maintain. They have significantly less heat loss and water evaporation, making them easier to maintain. For public pools, an overflow system is recommended.
Example of equipment placement in an overflow pool

For an overflow pool, an additional overflow tank is necessary, usually placed to the side of the pool.

Circulating water is mixed in the pool, and automation monitors the temperature regime as well as pool disinfection if additional equipment is installed. It is important to know that when designing the circulation system, so-called "dead zones" should be absent.
Filtration System

The filtration system is the main system for mechanically cleaning water from contaminants. The most common pool filtration system is the use of a sand filter. These are the simplest and most reliable and have been used for many decades. However, different equipment is typically installed for public and private pools. There are filters designed for private pools and others specifically for public ones. When designing the filtration system, several factors must be considered (public pool, private pool, pool load, filtration cycles, filter load fraction). This type of equipment significantly affects the cleanliness of your pool water.
Disinfection System

This system makes your water safe and clear, working in conjunction with filtration and circulation systems. There are many opinions on the best way to disinfect water. Typically, it is disinfected with chlorine. Various types of chlorine disinfection are available on the market, from dosing stations to electrolysis systems operating with table salt. There are also different configurations of dosing stations, from standard to premium, which not only monitor the water but also send reports to a mobile phone. Disinfection can also be done with bromine, active oxygen, silver and copper ions.
Additional equipment can include various types of ultraviolet lamps or ozonation devices. It is essential to consult specialists when choosing a disinfection system. Often, companies offer equipment that they import, rather than what is necessary. The design of the disinfection system should be based on sanitary and epidemiological rules and regulations. Various dosing stations or hydrolysis units can be a good choice.
When selecting disinfection equipment, it all depends on the specific water requirements and financial capabilities, as this equipment is quite expensive. Salt electrolysis stations are becoming very popular, especially for people sensitive or allergic to chlorine or other systems.

Lighting System
This equipment makes your pool particularly spectacular. Underwater lighting allows you to enjoy swimming even after sunset. When correctly installed, the pool lighting will not blind you, and there should be no dark zones. Various lighting options are available, chosen individually. Besides spotlights, you can illuminate the entrance group, individual elements, waterfall zone, and attractions. The light can be white or RGB. Various lighting effects and transition scenarios are possible.

Heating System
This function not only makes the pool more comfortable but also extends the operating season of outdoor pools. Heating can be done with different types of heaters: water tube or plate heaters, flow electric heaters, heat pumps. When choosing a heating system, it is essential to correctly calculate heat losses (and minimize them if possible) and the costs of heating. This equipment is indispensable in our climate.
The most common heating method is a heat exchanger that operates from a boiler. Often, the pool is connected to the second circuit of a gas boiler. Pool heating can also be connected to a heat pump system. In that case, plate heat exchangers are used instead of tubular ones.
Pool heating can be connected directly to the heat pump. Alternatively, electric heaters powered by the electrical grid can be used.

Automation, Electrical Installation, Pool Management
The automation system is essential for the safety and operation of the pool. This equipment system ensures that in unforeseen situations (flooding, short circuit, etc.), the pool remains intact and safe for people. Remote pool monitoring systems are becoming popular, allowing control of equipment operation, heating system, and water condition on mobile devices.

Attractions
Various attractions can diversify your pool experience and provide specific functions you need. These include waterfalls, hydro-massages, geysers, massage loungers, counter-currents, etc. Some attractions expand the pool's functionality and positively impact health through massages of different body parts. Others allow for full swimming use of a small pool with a directed water flow. There are different slides and attractions specifically designed for children's areas.
